Lake Powell Water Elevation
Why do we care?  Well, Lake Powell's water level is a priority over Lake Mead's, so until Powell is near full, Lake Mead will only receive enough water downstream to keep it's elevation right about 1100'.

During June & July 2008, Lake Powell is filling at the rate of roughly 6-8" per day.  This is due to the melting of the massive amount of snow that fell on the western slopes of the Rocky mountains this past winter .  It is predicted that Lake Mead will fill up a bit in late summer & fall this year as Powell reaches the 3636' elevation, but how much it will fill is unknown.

The number is the elevation of the water in Lake Mead as measured at the dam.
The water level in Lake Powell is "full" at 3700' in elevation and hold 23.5 million acre feet at this elevation.
If Powell hits 3636 in elevation, they will start filling Lake Mead.
