Our Dive Boat The Narcosis
She's ugly, but does a great job!
Our dive vessel, the Narcosis, is a 20 foot, 1969 v-hull Aztec IMP that we picked up for cheap back in 2008.
IMPs were known for their sturdy hulls and solid craftsmanship. Our's is sporting a Ford 302ci engine, VolvoPenta outdrive, and a custom prop from R & R Prop Shop.

Keel repair under way! |
Some relatively minor repairs were necessary before we could give the boat a try. A gash in the keel needed patching, but a few hours of do-it-yourself fiberglass work did the trick.
We had done some fiberglass work on Halloween projects in the past, so the keel repair was easy business. |
Inspecting the patched keel before gel coat. |
We've spent a lot of time and energy customizing the Narcosis to comfortably and safely accommodate divers and their gear.
Our benches were designed and custom built by us with 6061-T6 structural aluminum alloy and waterproof deck composite, then carefully positioned for the best weight distribution when the boat is fully loaded with gear. |

We custom built a 5 rung dive ladder that can easily support a fully geared tech diver and allow for easy climbing back on board. |

The Narcosis is loaded with safety oriented features including a marine radio, first aid, oxygen, plenty of rope and rigging, jiggly hula girl on the dash, a healthy layer of finely crushed Quagga Muscle shells on the deck, and dual isolated electrical circuits for reliable auto bilge pumping and guaranteed starting. We never launch without a good supply of tasty Nabisco treats. |

Early 2009 met us with engine trouble and a decision of whether to scrap the boat, or pay for repairs. We opted to rebuild the top-end of the engine and ramp up the horsepower a bit to make things a little more fun. The Narcosis is now equipped with an Edelbrock Performer intake manifold, 600cfm marine carburetor, Mallory performance marine distributer with electronic ignition, and a custom exhaust. |
